The New Year

So it's officially 2011 (as of an 90 minutes ago anyway) and now I have to go through my resolutions. Got a promotion at my job (still need to find a better one) so that's on the list. I promised myself I will beat all those games I have like the new Castlevania, Dante's Inferno and whatever else I have up there I have never played. Of course I will be playing the new games coming out in the future and competing in them as long as I can make them.

MvC3 is coming out next month so I am really excited about that game and messing with those characters. I can't wait to compete in that game as I have never played one seriously before. I also promised myself I would try to better myself at Street Fighter (as well as any fighter I am playing) as I haven't gone as hard as I need to, to actually become good at the game. Overall I would rate myself as a solid 4-5 in games and that's on par with people who only know combos which isn't very good for how good I think I can be at the game.

As far as my youtube channel is going I plan on getting a few videos together critiquing myself (as a way to better myself) so hopefully it at the least entertains people.

Other than that just gonna be doing what I'm doing which is working, school, and practicing as much as I can.

Also GVN is coming up in Feb so if you're on the East Coast should make your way out to that as it's going to be a big tourney especially for MvC3 as it will be the first major on the EC for it!

Going to try something new. . .

So it's been over a week since I have blogged. Been working a lot more (which is great btw) but as a result I come home do a few things then pass out. Anyway other than work I have been trying to figure out a way to help out fighting game communities.

I have played most of the main fighters as of late (T6, SF, etc) and I also know people who are at the least knowledgeable about those games. Obviously my main game as of now is Super Street Fighter but I'm hoping to become a strong player in MvC3 and MK9 as well. I enjoy competing but I also love to critique myself (and others obviously) when it comes to games. In the SC2 community (Star Craft 2) there's a guy who does these insightful casts 5 days a week and basically breaks down what happened in a match. I think things like this could definitely be transferred over to fighting games I'm just not sure how yet.

I am going to try this and will be putting up on my youtube channel which will be my matches until I figure out a good formula for helping people that are at least my level. Hopefully I figure it out so that hopefully everyone can get better and find ways to improve their own game as well as helping me to improve my own. I'll be starting mainly with Street Fighter as I play that game as my main right now. I'll keep everyone updated as I go forward with it.

December 16th (Thursday)

So it finally happened. . .snow :(

I really hate the snow which mainly comes from me hating the cold. . .enough on that though. . .

Today I think I played my last LoL (League of Legends) game for at least for a couple of months. It's an easier version of HoN honestly or I should say "simpler" version (not to mention it's free!). The game is fun but the game suffers from the same thing the others do which holds a lot of people back from playing which is egotistical people. I'm not the best at the game but in general the game revolves around basic fundamentals like any game. Farming, map control(or awareness), and common sense. There are a bunch of other stuff you need to know to play it and be decent but it's not much. . .common sense can get you pretty far but after that you need a team that has some type of composition with one another. Anyhow trying to play the game alone is like a chore because a lot of the time you get one person that quits early (probably right after he gets done feeding a lane) or you just get players who make horrible decisions (like picking a champ they have never played before in ranked). The problem is you can't tell anyone anything in the game because they all think they are better than the other which makes everyone say nothing. So now you have a team who literally doesn't like each other so we're obviously not going to do well unless the other team is just bad. I then realized I was becoming overly frustrated over a game which I usually don't get (which is probably because I don't play team based games often). Today's loss was probably the last straw and I figured I maybe need a break from that game.

However as frustrated as I became with the game it's still a fun game. I have played over 1000 games and I'm not trying to be competitive in this game so a break is probably best. The game is indeed best played with a group of friends rather than alone. It's free so I would suggest if you have some time and you like this type of game give it a shot. . .http://www.leagueoflegends.com/

So now I'll be playing some of my other games since I won't be playing as hard anymore because of work. I wanted to get much better at Street Fighter but I guess I'll have to get life straight then try again in the new version next year! Until then though gonna be playing the 4-5 action RPG's I have that I never play as well as some Wii games and try to relax.
